January 2, 2024 /SemiMedia/ -- According to South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, South Korea's semiconductor exports reached US$11 billion in December 2023, a significant year-on-year increase of 21.8%, the highest annual growth rate in history.

South Korea's semiconductor exports have been declining since August 2022, and rebounded in November 2023, with an increase of 12.9%, marking two consecutive months of positive growth after a 16-month slump.

Among the products exported by South Korea's semiconductors, memory chips such as DRAM and NAND account for the majority. According to data from DRAMeXchange, in December 2023, the average price of PC DRAM, taking 8GB DDR4 as an example, was US$1.65, an increase of 6.45% from November. After more than two years of decline, DRAM prices successfully rebounded in October 2023 and have grown for three consecutive months. At the same time, the prices of NAND products, including 128GB capacity memory cards and USB devices using 16Gx8 MLC technology, are also continuing to rise.
