According to the latest report from Strategy Analytics, the smartphone image sensor market size in the first half of 2022 fell by 5% year-on-year.

According to the report's ranking of producers, Sony topped the list with a 44% revenue share, followed by Samsung System LSI and OmniVision. Sony, Samsung and OmniVision account for nearly 83% of the global smartphone image sensor market revenue share.

Strategy Analytics pointed out that in smartphone multi-camera applications, the market share of image sensors for Depth and Macro applications fell to 26%, while the market share for Ultrawide applications rose to 20%.

Strategy Analytics pointed out that the smartphone image sensor market has slowed due to declining smartphone demand. Sony has increased its market share by developing large-size and high-resolution image sensor products in partnership with leading smartphone OEMs. In addition, Samsung continued to lead high-resolution demand by supplying customers with 200MP CIS products, while OmniVision lost market share due to the disruption of Chinese customers due to the outbreak.
