According to industry sources, the ARM Cortex-M3-based MCU developed in 2019 by Silicon Works, a LG Group's IC design subsidiary, is about to enter commercialization. This marks the official entry of Silicon Works into the digital semiconductor market.

According to reports, Silicon Works MCUs will be manufactured by TSMC and then sold to LG Electronics' home appliances division. As of now, the appliance division has been using MCUs from Toshiba and Panasonic.

At present, Silicon Works' main source of revenue is displays, and DDI for LCD and OLED panels accounts for 80% of its total revenue. It is worth mentioning that LG Display is also one of its main customers.

In addition, the source also pointed out that Silicon Works is developing MCUs based on the ARM Cortex-M4 core, which can be used as a key component of all electrical equipment.
