Samsung denies recent reports of production defects

SemiMediaEdit
June 27, 2024

June 27, 2024 /SemiMedia/ -- Samsung Electronics recently issued an emergency statement denying reports about production defects in its wafer fabs, saying the reports were unfounded.

Recently, some media reported that Samsung lost orders from Google and Qualcomm due to problems with 3nm mass production yield and energy efficiency. The report said that the main problem with Samsung's 3nm low yield is that its GAA process is still not stable enough, which directly affects the improvement of yield.

Although Samsung Electronics has denied the production defects, the rumor still raised market concerns about Samsung Electronics' semiconductor business. Especially in the context of increasingly fierce competition in the global semiconductor market, any production problems may have an impact on the company's competitiveness.
