According to Reuters, Qualcomm announced on January 4 that it has reached a chip supply agreement with automakers Volvo, Honda and Renault to accelerate its cooperation with traditional car companies' digital product lines.

The report stated that Qualcomm has developed a series of automotive products, including chips for autonomous driving, digital instrument clusters and infotainment systems. In addition, the company also announced that it has developed a new vision chip and system that uses automotive cameras and artificial intelligence technology to help implement safety functions such as automatic lane control.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Qualcomm said that it has reached an agreement with Volvo and Polestar to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit chip and Google’s operating system in cars starting later this year.

The agreement will enable Volvo to use Google Assistant hands-free and Google Maps navigation functions in this year's electric SUV. The two companies stated that future systems will be upgraded through OTA.
