November 28, 2023 /SemiMedia/ -- According to Omdia's latest report, driven by the continued demand for artificial intelligence, the total output value of the semiconductor industry increased by 8.4% in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the second quarter of 2023, reaching $139 billion.

The report pointed out that the demand for artificial intelligence remained an important source of the semiconductor industry in the third quarter. Driven by this, both Nvidia and SK Hynix have experienced overall growth. Nvidia's semiconductor revenue increased by 18% to US$12 billion, compared with US$4.6 billion in the third quarter of last year, an increase of US$7.3 billion over the same period. SK Hynix's semiconductor revenue increased by 26% to US$6.7 billion. ,

Furthermore, analysts say the semiconductor industry's growth is not entirely driven by AI demand as other semiconductor segments are also growing. After five consecutive quarters of decline, the industry has finally seen two consecutive quarters of growth. Artificial intelligence demand accounts for a large part, but demand for other applications is also increasing.
