Nordic acquires Neuton.AI’s TinyML assets to boost edge AI on ultra-low power chips

June 18, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Nordic Semiconductor has acquired the intellectual property and core assets of Neuton.AI, a developer of automated TinyML solutions, in a move to enhance its capabilities in edge AI and machine learning across its wireless system-on-chip portfolio.

Neuton.AI specializes in an ultra-compact neural network framework that can automatically generate machine learning models under 5 KB, enabling them to run efficiently on 8-, 16-, and 32-bit microcontrollers without manual optimization or data science expertise. These features align with Nordic’s focus on ultra-low power devices in markets such as consumer electronics, industrial IoT, and healthcare.

The acquisition is expected to significantly enhance Nordic’s next-generation nRF54 Series wireless SoCs, which combine high performance with power efficiency. “By integrating Neuton’s advanced TinyML technology, we are enabling a new class of always-on AI applications,” said Vegard Wollan, CEO and President at Nordic Semiconductor.

The deal includes all Neuton.AI intellectual property and selected assets, along with the transfer of 13 engineers and data scientists. Neuton.AI’s brand and platform will remain active during the integration period to maintain service continuity.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
