Murata suspened production due to new COVID-19 confirmed case in the factory

According to a Nikkei report yesterday, a new confirmed case of COVID-19 appeared in the Murata factory.

According to the report, Murata Manufacturing's subsidiary in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, found that one employee working there was infected with COVID-19. Considering the health and safety of the company's employees, the plant ceased operations on the 15th and 16th.

Murata stated that after confirmation by the health center, the staff wore masks at work and there were no close contacts within the company.

The Murata Okayama factory produces barium titanate (BaTiO3) used for components such as MLCC, and other raw materials related to ceramics. Murata's public relations department said that the factory has enough inventory and the suspension of the production line will not affect the delivery of the product.
