August 20, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Japan’s semiconductor-related trade expanded sharply in July 2026, according to preliminary data from the Ministry of Finance.
Exports of semiconductors and other electronic components increased 49.1% year on year, while shipments of semiconductor manufacturing equipment rose 40.9%. The gains helped lift Japan’s total exports by 23.2% to a record 11.51 trillion yen.
Exports to China rose 25.8%, marking a fifth consecutive month of growth, with semiconductor-related products among the main contributors. Overall shipments to Asia increased 24.5%.
Imports of semiconductors and other electronic components also climbed 79.7%, indicating stronger demand for chip-related products in both directions of Japan’s trade.
