April 29, 2024 /SemiMedia/ -- According to reports, Italian Industry Minister Adolfo Urso recently stated that the Italian government plans to invest approximately 10 billion euros in the semiconductor industry throughout the year.

"Italy is planning to become one of the largest microelectronics producers in Europe," Urso said.

In March, Urso announced that Singaporean startup Silicon Box was investing 3.2 billion euros to build a chip factory in the north of the country.

"I am sure that in the coming weeks we will be able to make other equally important announcements," Urso stressed.
