IC Insights recently updated its 2020 McClean Report, which provides a list of semiconductor companies' second-quarter performance guidance.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on future business, many semiconductor companies have not yet provided guidance for the entire year of 2020. However, there are still some companies that have made quarterly guidance on performance. Among them, most companies take into account the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, and the forecast range is wider than usual.

From the overall view of these 21 companies, it is expected that sales will drop by 5% in the second quarter of 2020. Among them, six companies expect sales to increase in the second quarter, including MediaTek, AMD, Western Digital/SanDisk, UMC, ADI, SMIC, and the remaining 15 companies are expected to decline.

MediaTek expects sales to increase 6% in the second quarter, ranking first among 21 companies, and its sales growth forecast is mainly from 5G mobile phone chips. Western Digital/SanDisk's 4% sales growth forecast is mainly due to the strong demand for NAND flash memory in data centers and SSDs.

Contrary to the above two companies, STMicroelectronics, Infineon, NXP, Texas Instruments and Skyworks all expect sales to decline by more than 10%. IC Insights predicts that the IC market will decline by 6% in the second quarter.
