According to reports, Robert Bosch's semiconductor factory in Dresden, Germany, which broke ground in June 2018, has begun a critical testing phase.

The $1.2 billion factory is expected to start production at the end of this year, mainly producing automotive chips.

The report stated that prototype silicon wafers passed a fully automated production process for the first time at the new factory. These chips will be used as part of power semiconductors for applications such as DC-to-DC converters for electric vehicles.

The new factory will focus on the manufacture of 300mm wafers and employ approximately 700 employees.
