December 10, 2024 /SemiMedia/ — AMD CEO Lisa Su recently stated that the artificial intelligence (AI) chip market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 60%, reaching $500 billion by 2028—equivalent to the current size of the entire semiconductor industry.

Su highlighted that the computing industry's primary focus is on leveraging AI's potential. She emphasized that AMD envisions AI becoming ubiquitous, integrated into every application, product, and scenario, which will demand substantial computational power.

"This is where AMD is positioned. I firmly believe AI is the most transformative technology I’ve encountered in my career. Its development pace is unprecedented; the progress made over the last 18 months surpasses that of the past decade," Su remarked.

She also noted that the immense potential of the AI market creates significant growth opportunities for all companies dedicated to producing outstanding products. Despite AMD's comparatively limited resources, Su asserted that this would not hinder the company’s progress.

"Although we don’t have the same resources as larger competitors, we consistently compete above our weight class in terms of technical capabilities and industry impact," Su added.
