On the 24th, TSMC held a special ceremony (a traditional celebration held after the basic structure of the building is completed) for its new 3nm project in Southern Taiwan Science Park.

TSMC Chairman Dr. Mark Liu said that TSMC’s revenue this year has continued to hit a record high. In terms of 3nm roadmap, its cumulative investment in the Southern Taiwan Science Park will exceed NT$2 trillion, and the goal is to have a monthly production capacity of more than 600,000pcs of 300mm wafers when 3nm is in mass production.

In addition, TSMC plans to start mass production of 3nm in the second half of 2022, with a monthly output of 55,000 pieces and a monthly output of 105,000 pieces in 2023.

Dr. Mark Liu said that the current number of employees in Southern Taiwan Science Park is 15,000, and the target number of employees will reach about 20,000 when the mass production of 3nm chips begins.
