Samsung and SK Hynix will stop supplying components to Huawei

According to Korean media reports, due to the US ban, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will stop supplying chips to Huawei from September 15.

The report pointed out that the ban caused considerable losses to Samsung and SK Hynix while causing damage to Huawei. Taking SK Hynix as an example, 40% of its $13.3 billion in revenue in the first half of the year came from exports to China. .

Industry insiders said that for Samsung, this is a contradictory situation. Huawei is one of Samsung Semiconductor’s largest memory chip customers. At the same time, Huawei is one of Samsung’s largest competitors in the mobile phone market.

The report emphasized that Samsung and SK Hynix have already submitted applications to the U.S. and hope to continue to supply Huawei after September 15.
