Yesterday, Qualcomm announced the appointment of Akash Palkhiwala as its executive vice president and CFO.

Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf said: "In terms of operations and strategy, Palkhiwala's deep understanding of our business makes him an ideal candidate to lead our financial work. I believe that Qualcomm will enter a period of greatest growth opportunities."

Palkhiwala holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the L.D. College of Engineering in India and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Maryland. He joined Qualcomm in 2001 and has held various finance positions at Qualcomm. For more than 10 years, he has been a member of Qualcomm's senior financial leadership team.

Since August this year, Palkhiwala has served as interim CFO of Qualcomm. Prior to this, he served as Vice President and QCT Finance Director, responsible for accounting for all chipset product divisions, including mobile, RF front-end, computing, automation, connectivity and networking, and IoT.
