On October 22, TSMC announced the purchase of machinery and factory equipment, with a total transaction amount of NT$5.47 billion (approximately US$179 million).

According to the announcement, the suppliers of purchased equipment are UIS (NT$3.02 billion), Lam Research (NT$1.12 billion) and Tokyo Electron (NT$1.33 billion). The purpose and use of purchased equipment is for production and operation.

According to previous reports, TSMC's production capacity is in short supply, and even the 16nm process delivery has been postponed, and is currently accelerating capacity expansion. The announced equipment purchase should be part of TSMC's recent expansion plan.

In addition, TSMC also announced an increase in capital expenditures this year to US$14-15 billion, an increase of 40% compared with the original planned US$10-11 billion.
