According to media reports, Micron has begun mass production of 1z nm (12nm to 14nm) 16Gb DDR4, which is more dense and consumes 40% less power.

According to reports, compared with the previous generation 1Y process, the 1Z nm process of 16Gb DDR4 products has higher bit density, slightly improved performance and lower cost. The new node also reduces power consumption by 40% compared to previous generations of 8Gb DDR4 RAM solutions.

Micron also announced that it has begun shipping the largest single-chip 16Gb low-power LPDDR4X DRAM in the industry. The 1z nm LPDDR4X and uMCP4 products are targeted at smartphones.
