Infineon and AMS will continue to supply to Huawei

Yesterday, the Nikkei News reported that under the influence of the US ban on Huawei, Infineon has suspended supply to Huawei. In response to this news, a spokesman for Infineon said that most of the products it supplies to Huawei are not subject to US restrictions. In addition, Austria-based AMS AG also said that it did not suspend shipments to Huawei.

According to the data, sales to Huawei accounted for 1.3% of Infineon's sales and 3.7% of AMS's revenue.

The US Department of Commerce has placed Huawei on the “Entity List”, which means that any US company will need a special license to sell products to Huawei. US chip makers including Intel, Qualcomm, Xilinx and Broadcom Inc. have indicated that they will not supply Huawei until further notice.

Industry insiders say the impact of the ruling on suppliers outside the US may not be as serious. According to people familiar with the situation, Dialog Semiconductor, a British technology company that supplies power management chips to Huawei, is closely watching the situation.
