Digi-Key plans to expand the warehouse size by tripling the current space

This Spring, the giant of on-line electronic component catalogue distributor Digi-Key plans to expand the warehouse size in Thief River Falls by 3 times of the current space, the total expansion is 2.2 million-square-foot, cost $300 million. The local governments agreed to grant the company about $45 million in tax breaks over 10 years, in return, Digi-Key has promised to create at least 1,000 jobs during that time, it says it has already added 170 jobs till now.

Digi-Key still growing even that Avnet and Arrow already open the on-line shops, in addition, there are more and more on-line shops comes up in recent years to join the competition. Anyhow, Digi-Key was the first company to sell electronic component on-line and already built a complete and high efficiency global on-line ordering, storage, sorting and shipping system, the system been built block by block in the past decades in different periods. At the current stage, competitors still need time to catch up with Digi-Key in this field.
