ROHM launches new smart switches to enhance automotive zonal controller safety

October 8, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — ROHM has introduced six new high-side smart switches under the BV1HBxxxEFJ series, featuring ON resistances ranging from 9 mΩ to 180 mΩ and high-precision current sensing. The devices are designed to improve load protection in automotive applications such as lighting, door locks, and power windows.

As automakers shift toward zonal controller architectures driven by autonomous driving and electrification, the need for advanced electronic protection has grown. ROHM’s new devices address limitations of conventional switches by offering superior capacitive load driving capability, low ON resistance, and high inductive energy tolerance. These features make them suitable replacements for mechanical fuses and enhance system reliability.

The new series also integrates diagnostic functions including open-load and reverse-battery detection. Packaged in compact HTSOP-J8 with high heat dissipation, the switches enable efficient and flexible system design. ROHM said it will continue to expand its high-reliability product lineup to support safety, energy efficiency, and electrification in the automotive sector.

Samples are now available at $4.1 per unit before tax. For more information, please visit BV1HBxxxEFJ series (BV1HB008EFJ-C, BV1HB012EFJ-C, BV1HB020EFJ-C, BV1HB040EFJ-C, BV1HB090EFJ-C, BV1HB180EFJ-C)
