February 22, 2024 /SemiMedia/ -- According to reports, as NAND flash memory demand is expected to recover in 2024, Samsung Electronics has established an SSD R&D team in India to expand its business and maintain its leading position in the field.

The report pointed out that Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has formed a team under the storage solutions team to conduct research on optimizing the energy efficiency and performance of SSDs.

Samsung has been the top supplier in the SSD market since 2006. In recent years, Samsung has been cooperating with institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and KLE University. Samsung established an SSD R&D team in India to use local talents to expand its technological leadership.

According to statistics, Samsung accounted for 35% of the global NAND market in 2022. Samsung stated in its fourth quarter 2023 earnings call that as the market recovers, demand for server SSD products continues to grow steadily, with shipments increasing significantly, and this trend is expected to continue into 2024.
