Japan’s electronic component shipments increased by 3% year-on-year in November 2023

February 5, 2024 /SemiMedia/ -- According to data released by the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), the global shipment volume of Japanese electronic component factories in November 2023 increased by 3.0% year-on-year to 390.6 billion yen, which was the first increase in the past 13 months.

By region, shipments of electronic components to the Japanese domestic market in November 2023 increased by 19.1% year-on-year to 93.4 billion yen, shipments to China increased by 12.3% to 141.3 billion yen, shipments to the Americas fell 9.6% to 38.7 billion yen, shipments to Europe fell 2.6% to 40 billion yen, and shipments to other Asian regions except China and Japan fell 15.4% to 76.6 billion yen.

By product category, passive component shipments in November 2023 were 179.2 billion yen, an increase of 1% from the same month last year. Among them, capacitor shipments increased by 3% to 128.3 billion yen, resistor shipments fell by 11% to 15.7 billion yen, transformer shipments decreased by 21% to 4.1 billion yen, and inductor shipments increased by 8% to 28 billion yen.

In addition, connector shipments decreased by 6% to 51.4 billion yen in November 2023, switch component shipments including touch panels increased by 6% to 40.6 billion yen, and radio frequency (RF) parts shipments increased by 39% to 26.6 billion yen.
