Dec. 22, 2022 /SemiMedia/ -- According to Bloomberg, TDK recently said that global smartphone sales will not rebound until the end of 2023.

TDK, which supplies batteries for the entire mobile industry, including iPhones, said it saw little sign of a rebound after a sharp decline in smartphone sales, especially in its key market, China.

"I haven't heard any optimism from customers, and I expect the situation we are facing today will continue until the middle of next year, and then gradually recover from the end of next year," said Noboru Saito, president of TDK.

Noboru Saito pointed out that the release of new mobile phones in the second half of 2023 will be the driver of recovery.

TDK had previously forecast mobile phone sales of 1.3 billion in the fiscal year that ended in March, but Saito said the company has now lowered that forecast by 10%.
