Japanese semiconductor equipment maker's August revenue hits record high

October 12, 2022

According to data recently released by the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ), sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment made in Japan (including sales of overseas branches of Japanese companies) in August 2022 increased by 38.5% year-on-year and 8.4% month-on-month, reaching 347.3 billion yen, a record high.

According to industry analysis, despite the decline in demand for smartphones and consumer electronics products in the context of global inflation, the semiconductor market has slowed down, but the medium and long-term demand prospects are still strong.

The analysis also pointed out that the semiconductor industry is now in the inventory adjustment period, and once the inventory adjustment is completed, the upward trend will resume in 2024. Therefore, many companies continue to maintain equipment expenditures.
