On September 23, Marvell announced that it has completed the acquisition of Aquantia. Upon completion of the acquisition, Marvell's network platform will be a strong combination of industry-leading PHYs, switches and processors to help customers achieve a leap of MB to TB per second.

Founded in Silicon Valley, Aquantia is a pioneer in multi-gigabit networking technology. At present, this technology has been widely used in many fields, from enterprise parks to autonomous vehicles. Marvell's intention to acquire Aquantia is the automotive network market. The acquisition of Aquantia complements Marvell's copper and fiber physical layer products and further expands Marvell's presence in the multi-gigabit 2.5G/5G/10G Ethernet market.

“The acquisition of Aquantia allows us to have highly innovative network solutions and a large number of outstanding engineering and technical personnel to form an industry-leading mixed-signal design team. The execution of this team is highly recognized in the industry. We are now able to seize market opportunities to expand our corporate customers, data center customers and automotive customers. In particular, Marvell is well prepared to accelerate the upgrade of high-speed in-vehicle networks to power future autopilots,” Matt Murphy, president and CEO of Marvell, said.

In addition, according to Marvell, with the completion of the acquisition, Aquantia's chairman and CEO Faraj Aalaei will serve as Marvell executive.
