According to the supply chain market report, the price of diodes will continue to rise in the first quarter of 2019, and the lead time will continue to extend, around 16 to 40 weeks, some products even take 52 weeks.

The report points out that brands with rising prices and extended lead time include NXP, ON Semiconductor, Vishay and STM, and the product category includes Bridge Rectifier, Schottky Diode, and Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS), Rectifier, Switching Diode and other products.

The supply chain believes that the current demand for electric vehicles and automotive electronics has increased significantly. For example, the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) integrates blind spot detection (BSM), lane departure warning (LDWS) and parking assistance. Under such circumstances, the demand for diodes is becoming higher and higher, and global diode production capacity has not been greatly improved in recent years. It is not surprising that shortages and price increases have occurred.
