Renesas: Lost caused by voltage drop equivalent to 1 week production value

Renesas Electronics has announced a final update on the impact of the production of the Kawashiri Factory (Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture) from the instantaneous voltage drop on July 5 JST caused by lightning.

Renesas said it had reached full production capacity (wafer input base) equivalent to before the instantaneous voltage drop on July 11 JST, as initially scheduled.

Renesas further stated that the transient voltage drop caused some damage to the work-in-process (WIP). The company initially announced that losses due to WIP damage and shutdowns could account for up to approximately 2 weeks of production value. However, after further evaluation, the number of damaged WIP was lower than expected, and the comprehensive loss of damaged WIP and production stop only accounted for about one week's production value.
