March 29, 2024 /SemiMedia/ --According to Omdia's latest report, the global semiconductor supply chain has made strategic inventory adjustments in recent quarters, and the industry's output value is expected to reach US$600 billion in 2024. Artificial intelligence (AI) is driving demand growth across the supply chain, and the semiconductor industry is expected to see promising developments.

The global semiconductor industry has experienced adjustments in 2023 due to adverse macroeconomic conditions and inventory adjustments. Omdia predicts that the global pure wafer foundry industry revenue will grow by 16.4% in 2024.

The report points out that NVIDIA’s AI accelerators dominate the global market, especially in cloud and data center deployments. In addition, large cloud service providers such as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are also developing dedicated AI acceleration chips to improve cost efficiency and performance under specific loads. The deployment rate in the field of edge artificial intelligence has increased significantly, such as personal computers and smartphones.

Omdia predicts that the market size of AI accelerators will continue to grow from 2024 to 2027, and the market size in this field will exceed US$150 billion in 2025.
