March 7, 2024 /SemiMedia/ -- According to reports, Tower Semiconductor plans to implement a three-week shutdown of most of its Newport Beach operations.

The report pointed out that Tower Semiconductor confirmed that it will close most of its operations there from April 1 to 7, and plans to close more operations from July 1 to 7 and October 7 to 13.

Tower Semiconductor said orders for the Newport Beach factory are declining as customers clear inventory accumulated over the past two years when semiconductor supplies were constrained.

Tower Semiconductor said the three-week shutdown was planned to avoid a longer shutdown that could result in job losses. Affected employees include engineering technicians, financial planners, manufacturing workers and utility operators.
