ESIA:Semiconductor sales in Europe hit $3.777 billion in May

According to a recent report released by the European Semiconductor Industry Association (ESIA), semiconductor sales in Europe reached $3.777 billion in May 2022. Compared with the first five months of 2022 and the same period in 2021, it has increased by 20.4%. On a month-on-month basis, sales fell 0.7% from April.

The report pointed out that in May 2022, global semiconductor sales were $51.819 billion, an increase of 20% year-to-date. On a month-on-month basis, global sales rose 1.8% from April.

The main drivers of European sales in May compared to April were optoelectronics (up 3.9% month-on-month), logic chips (up 1.8%) and application-specific semiconductors (up 0.5%).

In terms of global sales of application-specific semiconductors, there has been steady growth in all end-use areas such as wireline communications, consumer and computing.
