SilTerra, the largest semiconductor foundry in Malaysia, recently announced that it will invest 645 million ringgit (approximately $150 million) in an expansion plan, increasing its annual production capacity by 20% from 8.3 million mask layers to 10 million.

SilTerra said that the decision to expand production capacity was made in view of the needs of electric vehicles, Internet of Things, data centers and other fields that are especially suitable for SilTerra's 200mm characteristic process foundry, and the company has signed long-term supply agreements with customers.

SilTerra revealed in the announcement that the investment comes from shareholder capital injection and internal accumulation, and the new capacity is expected to be put into production in early 2023.
