Murata will expand production scale in China

Recently, Tsuneo Murata, chairman and president of Murata Manufacturing Co., said in an interview that China has a large population and various electronic device consumption is expected to continue to increase. Murata will further expand its production scale in China.

As a large-scale listed company focusing on the production of electronic components, Murata entered the Chinese market in the 1990s and established a production base in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China. At present, Murata has more than 20 production, sales and R&D bases in Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen.

Tsuneo Murata said that as China's auto industry moves toward electrification and automation, coupled with increased safety requirements for automobiles, China's domestic demand for electronic components will continue to increase. As the world's second largest economy, the impact of the Chinese market is as great as its appeal.

Previously, Tsuneo Murata pointed out that due to China's economic slowdown and the increase in the price of smart phones, the demand for its main electronic components such as MLCC has been weak since the second half of FY18 (as of March 2019). In addition, although the trade friction between China and the United States has hardly affected the company's business, the demand in some areas of China has slightly weakened, and this has a greater impact.

Tsuneo Murata stressed that the current downturn is bottoming out. Specifically, orders for 5G related electronic components have emerged, especially for China's 5G base stations.
