Maxim Integrated announces the latest family of power management ICs (PMICs) to help designers optimize power management for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for high performance, small size, high efficiency and electrical protection.

Functions of ADAS include: intelligent brake collision avoidance system, GPS/navigation, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, lane departure warning, and backup/panoramic video. These features can significantly improve vehicle safety and enhance the driving experience, so ADAS will become the standard configuration for every car in the future. Although these features are highly valued in design, maintaining a stable DC power supply in a harsh automotive environment is a serious challenge for ADAS system designers.

Maxim's PMIC products are optimized for automotive applications to regulate, manage and protect DC power. These products address key issues for ADAS system designers, offering unique package sizes, high efficiency, low quiescent current, integrated ASIL-B/D electrical protection, and low EMI.

Maxim's published PMIC family of products includes:

  • The MAX20019 dual-channel synchronous buck converter offers the industry's smallest 3.2MHz dual-channel buck power solution in a 2mm × 3mm package.
  • MAX20087 four-channel camera power protector, ASIL-B/D camera module protector IC includes an I2C interface to indicate overvoltage/undervoltage/fault conditions; monitor up to four 600mA coaxial channels and isolate each camera module failure

MAX20075 and MAX20076 synchronous buck converters with the industry's smallest quiescent current, offering peak and valley mode options; up to 91% peak efficiency for standby power applications compared to competing solutions, while providing 40V load-to-load tolerance

  • MAX20014 triple output converter with one synchronous boost and two synchronous buck converters for smaller, simpler, and lower cost designs (competition requires two IC plus discrete components); Operates at 2.2MHz switching frequency and provides spread spectrum function to effectively reduce EMI in 4mm x 4mm package size
