According to media quoted industry sources, foundry prices will rise in the second quarter. The industry sources stated that UMC and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC)  have confirmed price increases, while TSMC will implement a 30% price increase from April.

The report pointed out that the main reason for the increase in foundry prices was the increase in raw material prices and the tight wafer production capacity, which led to further increases in wafer manufacturing costs. In addition, due to the surge in demand, chip foundries have been operating at full capacity for months.

According to reports in March, Shin-Etsu Chemical issued an announcement in March to increase the sales price of all its silicon products by 10% to 20% from April.

GlobalWafers said that its 300mm, 200mm and 150mm silicon wafer production lines are expected to operate at full capacity in the second half of this year.
