As SK Hynix's DRAM has a global market share of about 30% and a NAND flash memory share of about 35%, the rumor has caused industry concerns about supply stability.
Yesterday, SK Hynix issued an announcement in response to the rumor, stating that a new employee at the Icheon factory in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea had close contact with a confirmed case of novel coronavirus pneumonia in Daegu, but the employee was not a confirmed case. For security reasons, it was decided to quarantine the new employee until March 1. In addition, more than 800 employees who had contact with the new employee are in quarantine, and no symptoms are present.
SK Hynix emphasized that the Icheon factory has more than 18,000 employees, and the operation of production facilities will not be affected.
