Supply chain: Yageo will increase prices of its MLCCs and chip resistors
According to Taiwan media reports, Yageo's two major production bases in Suzhou and Dongguan, China, resumed work on February 10. However, affected by the novel coronavirus epidemic, Yageo still faces many challenges in increasing production capacity there.
On the same day as the resumption of work, sources from the supply chain said that Yageo may increase the prices of MLCCs and chip resistors for distributors and EMS customers by an average increase of about 30%, and the new prices will take effect as soon as March 1. The report also mentioned that the reason for the price increase is due to low inventory and low capacity utilization.
According to the report, after the resumption of work at Yageo's Suzhou and Dongguan sites, they are working to increase capacity utilization to meet customer demand. Yageo said that the Suzhou and Dongguan factories were allowed to resume work gradually on February 10, but the recruitment process was slow due to the implementation of traffic and other various control measures by the local government. As for the price, it will be determined by market supply and demand.
