On Wednesday, Samsung Electronics issued an announcement saying that a one-minute power outage occurred on Tuesday afternoon. The company suspended some semiconductor production at Hwaseong chip production facilities, and suspended some DRAM and NAND flash chip production lines. It is estimated that full recovery is expected to take 2-3 days.
In 2018, a half-hour power outage at Samsung's Pyeongtaek chip factory caused Samsung's loss of approximately $ 43.32 million. However, people familiar with the matter said that the power outage is likely to cause Samsung to lose millions of dollars, but no major losses will occur.
Samsung said in the announcement that it is inspecting production lines to resume production and is assessing the damage caused. As of press time, Samsung has not announced the loss. However, according to analysts, the power outage may help Samsung control chip inventories increase.
