AMD recently released its second quarter earnings report. For operations and outlook, AMD CEO Lisa Su said that the data center is AMD's primary market. In the upcoming 2019, the data center market is the primary goal for the ultra-micro central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) services of AMD.

In response to the problem of ultra-micro GPUs selling kinetic energy in the data center market, Lisa Su said that this is a long-term growth strategy, and a new multi-billion-dollar data center GPU market is emerging. There are only two manufacturers currently investing in this emerging market. One is AMD and the other is NVIDIA.

Lisa Su noted that AMD has cooperated with several partners to optimize the partners’ application in the data center arena. In the next few years, there will be a real growth opportunity in this field, especially 7 nanometers. For the cryptocurrency market, Lisa Su said that the cryptocurrency has been a positive business segment for AMD, and AMD did see the business slowing down in the second quarter, but again saw demand in the third quarter. But because cryptocurrency is not a business foundation for AMD, high-performance computing (HPC) is the foundation of AMD's business. Whether in the data center or the PC market, AMD is a high-performance computing company.
